I'm Brittany DeFrehn...wife and mom to four. I live a crazy messy, beautiful life as a business owner, photographer, doula and women's health advocate. I am passionate about all things motherhood and the work I do is designed to support and celebrate moms in the ways they deserve. My work is rooted in my love for this time in life. From photography to doula support to building meaningful communities, my heart is with women walking through this stage of life.
For photography, you can expect to have classic and stunning portraits while also having emotional documentary photography of your life. I am a sucker for black and whites and photos of snuggled babies and children laughing. I am even more passionate about capturing what motherhood looks and feels like for your family.
I am also the owner of Frederick Moms and Doulas where I have a team of amazing women that is just as passionate about women's health, pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I love walking this journey with women and their families.
When I am not working I am enjoying my crazy life with four kids, hosting something on my house or reading. I am a fan of open doors, community, old houses, an awesome margarita, any cupcake, and chickens.

How this all started:
I graduated from McDaniel College in 2007. If you want to get an idea about how my life is multi-faceted (or just plain crazy) then you just need to know that I graduated with a double major in Political Science in International Relations and a triple minor in Biology, Spanish, Cross-Cultural Studies. I finished all but one pre-med rec because I was convinced I was going to be a doctor thanks to a scholarship I received at ten from a pretty famous doctor. Instead, I decided to study abroad in Budapest Hungary instead of finishing Organic Chem (Good call right?) I started my photography business in 2009 while working as a consultant for political campaigns. Soon after I was full-time, had my first baby in 2011 and realized the world of women's health was for me. I trained as a doula with DONA International and decided this was my career path. It also happened to pair perfectly with photography, advocacy and community building. The rest is what you see here.
